Springtime exploring

Let’s face it, I love this time of year. Does it get any better than walking along the beachfront in Manly early in the morning in short sleeves! I am not the only one with this idea as it is busy and I managed to see three people I knew just in a short time this morning.

It is heating up and the Jazz festival is being set up for the long weekend. How did we get to this time of year already? It is nice to see my old High School’s band involved this weekend. I was lucky enough to be a part of the Big Band and Stage Band during my High School years.

Just before the season started I managed a short break with two friends to the Hunter Valley. So dangerous hahaha. But worth it. There was some backburning happening in the area which made for an incredible sunset although hard to capture on the phone.

I attended the recent NSW Sailing Awards where it was great to catch up with a number of our DeckHardware Ambassadors and friends. It is always so nice to catch up with so much to say!

I have also put together something for the METS Online Community. You can read it here.

How good is this time of year.

Manly Dam in the Morning

How lucky am I. Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches with Manly Dam on my doorstep almost! I take it for granted. I used to get out on it when I was a kid and realise I need to do something about that. The last few weeks I have started trying to get there at least once a week for a walk. Instead of hitting the gym for Body Combat, Aqua and Pilates. It gets me out in the fresh air with some pretty amazing scenery. This morning was no different.

If you have never done any of the trails around Manly Dam you are missing out. It certainly is a bit of hidden gem in the middle of the suburbs. There are different length trails with so much to see. I highly recommend it as a great way to recharge and get out and stretch those legs. What a great way to start the day.

My Sunday

What a great Sunday! Blue skies and warm weather is so good for this time of year!

I do have to laugh at my day though. It started at the gym working on cardio and my core. Loving the classes at the Virgin Active gym and loving some of the people there too! So friendly and honest. I took up the suggestion of one of the other women and tried out Zumba. Awesome! That will certainly help my fitness without hurting my core too much. Yay!

The gym was followed by a visit to the local fresh produce markets. Mmm pumpkin soup when it cools down later in the week. Then Home in time to watch the V8’s and Jason Bright take out the Jason Richards memorial trophy. Whilst at the same time changing channels and following twitter to watch my favourite Footy Team Manly take an early half time lead in the home game against the sharks.

Now for the second half and then time to change channels to the Formula One!

Have I mentioned I love sport?

Footy season is almost here

What a way to start a weekend.  Waking up and turning on the TV to watch Manly play in the World Cup Challenge.  I can not wait for the season to start and to go to some Brookie home games.   Manly did not get the win but after a rusty start showed they were getting back into the swing of things in the second half.   I must say I know they have short in goals over there but seriously what was with the state of the ground?  Talk about sand!   And to think they get rain over there?   In fact it was raining during the game…   Just glad it looks like there were no major injuries despite playing on a ground like that.  Pretty sure there were some complaints about other grounds last season that looked much better than that…  Oh well it is done now.   Manly just have to defend the Premiership and get back there to give it another go!   They won last time against Leeds just wasn’t to be this time.   It was actually pretty surprising the amount of rain during the game.  You could hardly tell in the coverage except when they showed one angle of the sky.

For those of you wondering I am a Sea Eagles Supporter born and bred.   Working and living so close to Brookie how could I not be!   Check out their memberships.  I have been told that my family would bleed maroon and white  haha.  We are one of those houses that in the last finals series had flags out on the front deck proudly flying.  Growing up my parents always had Grand Final Party’s as during my childhood Manly made and won some great grand finals.  But there is nothing better than standing on the hill with your closest friends when Brookie is at ground capacity.  A suburban ground at its best.

Now for the rest of the weekend.  A bit of work today whilst taking it easy and possibly if it is not too warm I might make a batch of my favourite cup cakes.   Choc Chip ones with chocolate icing.   yummy. I make them every now and then and put them in the freezer so they do not get eaten all at once!

Then bring on tomorrow, a day on the water.  No doubt it will rain and not be a black noreaster…  A girl can hope though!
